Subaru to reveal BRZ coupe at LA show

"Subaru is expected to show a production concept of its rear-drive BRZ coupe at the Los Angeles Motor Show in November - before unveiling the real thing in Tokyo later that month.
So far the Japanese carmaker has revealed little about the BRZ other than its see-through wire-frame guise.
The LA show car will also come with a twist - although it will wear sheet metal, none of the panels will be the same as the production car.
The production-ready BRZ will join its Toyota FT-86/Scion FRS siblings. All three versions of the car, says reports in the United States, will wear similar body panels with the exception of their faces.
Subaru will apply its own mug, while the Toyota and Scion versions will be essentially identical with the exception of badging.
Subaru will be responsible for production of all three versions, and the sporty coupe will be built at the Japanese carmaker's Gunma, Japan, facility.
There the cars will be fitted with 2-litre boxer engines and paired with either a six-speed automatic or six-speed manual gearbox." [Continue reading...]

Caring for Subaru Turbocharged Engines

New Subaru vehicles are thoroughly checked for quality and craftsmanship. Safety, performance, and dependability are given top priority, making the vehicles easy to operate and maintain.

The following information updates factory recommendations for the care and maintenance of new Subaru turbocharged vehicles.

THE TURBOCHARGER

The turbocharger, commonly called a “turbo,” is operated by the energy contained in the exhaust gas. The exhaust gas spins a turbine inside the turbocharger at an extremely high speed (more than 100,000 rpm). That compresses the air/fuel mixture into the cylinders, which creates higher power output.

Because of the turbine’s rotational speed and the high temperature of the exhaust gas driving the turbo, proper cooling is needed to maintain durability. Engine oil plays a major role in lubricating and cooling the turbo, so following recommended oil change guidelines is important.

The Subaru Genuine Oil Filter, available at your Subaru dealer, is the only filter that Subaru has tested to meet requirements for filtration and flow.[Continue reading...]

Subaru Facebook Fans Vote to Share Their Love with the Make-A-Wish Foundation®

"For the first time, Subaru invited Facebook fans to vote on a charitable organization for the automaker's fourth annual Share The Love event. After three weeks of voting, Facebook fans added the Make-A-Wish Foundation to a roster of charities anticipated to receive a collective $5 million in donations from Subaru. The Share The Loveevent, which donates $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased from Nov. 19 through Jan. 3, has donated nearly $15 million to charitable causes since the program's inception three years ago. The other recipient organizations that will benefit from this year's program include American Forests, the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), Meals On Wheels Association of America, and Special Olympics.

"At Subaru, we support causes that our owners are also passionate about. This year we took the Share The Loveevent a step further and asked our Facebook fans to decide which organization they'd like to add to the designated charities for this year's event. We're absolutely delighted to welcome the Make-A-Wish Foundation as the People's Choice to join our existing charities," said Brian Johnson, national advertising manager, Subaru of America, Inc."[Continue reading...]
